Lexi finally kicked the bucket and settled down with a blanket AND clothes! One of the girls at work was knitting a scarf and hat for her daughter and showed me how. Spice enjoyed watching my scarf grow. It's almost done now.

We have had near blizzard conditions this week. Driving to work is a nightmare! But Lexi loves the snow! She wants to step in every snow drift. She puts socks on her hands whenever we go out. I offered her mittens, but she wouldn't let me put them on her.

Spice arrived at our house on Dec. 18th. We had Christmas all set up, so he settled right in. Lexi did morning aerobics with him. Do you like her resistance band? She has very strong teeth!

Visiting Grandma's house

On Sunday night we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Ginger had to work, so her kids were spending the night there. Spice enjoyed drawing with Hyrum, watching Dora' Christmas with Jayden and the girls, reading with Grandma, and all the kids musical performances! Lexi and Lily shared their suckers with Spice. We found out two days later that Lily's cough and hoarseness were croup!

Spice at the Kunic's

We got Spice from Ivy's house where he was hanging out with his friends.

As soon as we got home from Ivy's Addi started to complain of an ear ache. We took her to the doctor and he said she had an ear infection. Spice stayed by her side trying to comfort her.

Spice enjoyed drawing and playing all kinds of games with the kids.

He even helped Tyler fix our chopper after all elves are great at fixing and building things.
When it snowed Rhett and Addi could not wait to go out and play in it. One of the great things about our knew place is that they can go into the back yard and I can watch them through the patio doors. No more cold snowy days that I have to go outside! Anyways of course Spice went with them. It made him feel right at home.

We took Spice to our ward Christmas party. He loved watching Rhett act out the Nativity. He played a wise man. Of course he was a great singer when it came time to sing.

The Berretts and SUGAR!
We were so happy when Sugar arrived except CJ he was disturbed to have ANOTHER girl in the house after all even the cat and dog are girls at our house. He thinks next year we should have Spice.

It was late and the kids decided to find a place for sugar to sleep. They tried the stockings hung by the fireplace , next they tried standing her by the manger scene but it wasn’t very comfortable so she finally settled down on the couch, by the fireplace with a cozy washcloth blanket.

Sugar helped Ashley and Mariah do their piano practicing,

Played a computer games with CJ, and volleyball with Sarah. That was a little painful since she was the item trying to spike the ball.

She also spent time watching TV with the kids and we have to agree with Heather that Backyardagains is one of her favorites, she enjoyed laying in moms cozy bed in the mornings with Rachel and Lizzy.

This year we decided to make Gingerbread houses to give away to some older people in our ward. We told sugar all about it and she was so excited but when it came time to make the houses we couldn’t find her. We had a good time anyway.

Ashley and Cassidy were successful at keeping their house together they turned out beautiful but Sarah, Rachel, and Mariahs houses wouldn’t stay up so they made their own creations (with lots of candy). CJ just ate the candy!!! We kept calling Sugar but she wouldn’t come.

Finally Monday afternoon we found Sugar. She was learning how to dance in our dance room downstairs. She is now an amazing dancer since she spent so much time down there.

Monday night we went to deliver our 2 remaining houses to some elderly neighbors and go caroling. We were glad that Sugar could go with us. She has an amazing voice. She is going to go back to Santa with some new talents. We have all had fun with her and we hope you will all find joy and happiness in your homes this holiday season.

Spice at the Seisers

We met Spice at the ward Christmas party. The Harrisons had brought him with them so we got to know him before he came to stay with us.

Because we had allready gotten to know Spice at the ward Christmas party we felt very comfortable together so the

first thing we did together was kick back and watch a

christmas movie.

Spice had a crush on my new angel so this was his favorite place to hang out.

Cobalt wasn't so sure about Spice at first but she got used to him.

Daniel and Spice had a great time hanging out by the tree and looking at the Christmas lights.

Spice at the Harrisons

Brisa is always too busy to hold Spice. Luckily we got this one.

Cienna is so excited for Spice to come play again next year. Cienna wanted Spice to come alive. She wanted to ask Santa if he could make Spice come alive.

We went to Grandma Harrison for our family Christmas party. Darian took spice down the slide and held him up out of the water. My picture didn't take fast enough so I asked Darian to do it again this time Darian didn't hold him up out of the water. That is how Spice took the plunge.

Steve shows the cousins what an awsome swimmer Spice has become. Everyone wanted a turn to swim with Spice.

We went to the church for a christmas breakfast. Santa showed up and Spice and the kids got to sit on his lap.

I strongly advise against male foreigners in our home. Next year send us Sugar to prevent Abbey from premature dating.

Sugar and Spice at the Maier's house

Sugar and Spice arrived at the Maier's home on the 15th of November. They came in a large manilia envelope direct from the North Pole. They told us that Santa had used his magic to make them smaller and much flatter so that they could travel around the country for just the cost of a stamp. Wasn't that clever of Santa? They loved the little Christmas village on our sideboard because they said it made them feel like they were back home.

The two little elves went right to work helping us decorate our tree. Lucy and Sugar set a new record for removing the ornaments from the tissue paper.

Ben is hanging the Christmas Bear ornament that he got for his third Christmas. One Christmas tradition we have in the Maier family is the yearly Christmas ornament. We buy four ornaments that are the same or only slightly different and then each child gets one with his/her name and the year and made a little reminder of what the child was doing that year on it. When they grow up and leave home (and we know they do) they will be able to take all their special ornaments with them.

Spice discovered that being little and flat turned our Christmas tree a wonderful playground. When he jumped up and down on the limbs, he had a fine ride. Spice wanted Lucy to climb the Christmas tree with him, but we wouldn't let her.

It turns out that Sugar is a very talented seamstress. She has a whole closet full of lovely clothing she has made back at the North Pole. She was sad that Santa couldn't make her clothes little and flat so she could bring them with her. Maybe some little girl would like to help her add to her wardrobe during her visit at their house. Sugar offered to make Uncle Alan an elf cap like the one she and Spice wear. She was worried that Uncle Alan's head get cold on those frosty December mornings.

Our Christmas tree is twelve feet tall, which makes it a little tricky and scary to get the ornaments on the highest branches. Spice offered to climb up to the top of the tree to help me, but I knew right where I wanted to put each ornament.

Bromwyn was working hard on her application for admission to BYU and so she wasn't able to spend much time helping us with Christmas preparations, but Sugar and Spice did what they could to bring her some holiday cheer. Getting into BYU-Utah tops Bromwyn's Christmas wish list this year.
Ben, dressed (or undressed) in his Christmas best, worked with Spice to put the ornaments on the tree. Ben and Spice have a very organized approach to ornament placement: put all of the ornaments that look the same on the same three branches of the tree. Too bad Mom has a different tree decorating aesthetic.

Sugar and Spice helped us to decorate our Gingerbread house the day after Thanksgiving. Spice told us that he works in Santa's Kitchen when he isn't on special assignment. He said his favorite food is chocolate chip cookies. Apparently, Mrs. Clause makes magic chocolate chip cookies that help reindder fly and little elves work day and night without getting tired. I guess that Spice was missing those magic cookies because he spent a lot of time resting while he was here -- most of the time he rested on the cupboard and watched television. Backyardigans and Blue Clues seem to be two of his favorite shows.
